AT OUR SHELTER

Assistance in our facility is needed each morning for 2 hours, beginning around 9 am. We usually work for an hour or so, then relax, have refreshments and play with the kitties, and sometimes puppies, for another hour. The Friends of Gummi animal shelter is in a new, private home and duties include cleaning, feeding, giving medicines, bathing, and playing with the kittens. Volunteers are also needed for 1 hour any evening, usually between 5pm & 7pm, for refreshing food, water, scooping litter and playing with the kittens and puppies.  You will be working with other animal lovers at all times.

FOSTERING IN YOUR HOME

We also need experienced puppy foster parents. Duties will include caring for very young puppies in your own home until they are 7 to 8 weeks of age at which time they can be placed for adoption. You will supply a clean, warm, stress free environment for the puppies, as well as playtime, and lots of love. We will administer flea and worm medications, and vaccines, and provide veterinary care as needed.  We also need 'stay-at-home' foster parents for bottle feeding puppies. You may foster as often or as little as you wish.

Foster parents for young kittens are always needed. Ideally, kittens would stay in your home until 6 or 7 weeks of age, at which time they can be placed for adoption. We often receive 4 or 5 week old kittens who need a clean and loving environment for a few weeks. We provide medicines and veterinary care as needed. We also need 'stay-at-home- foster parents for bottle feeding kittens. Again, you may foster as often or as little as you wish.
